This is a detailed overview of the full restoration process carried out on this Sheen property, illustrating how the façade was carefully returned to its original condition while strengthening the building for the future.
Exposing Years of Hidden Deterioration
Phase 1 – Revealing the True Condition
Before work began, the property’s frontage was heavily coated in layers of paint and previous patch repairs. Once scaffolding was erected and coverings installed, the true condition of the structure became clear.
Behind the paint, areas of brickwork and structural detailing showed signs of long-term weathering, trapped moisture, and deterioration. Sections of masonry around the porch and bay had begun to crumble, with failing mortar joints and decayed surface repairs concealing damaged brick beneath. Decorative elements and supporting features around the entrance canopy also showed cracking and loss of material.
The initial stage focused on carefully stripping back failing coatings and uncovering the original brickwork so repairs could be properly assessed and carried out.
Prior to restoration:
The property’s façade was concealed beneath ageing paint and temporary repairs, masking deteriorated brickwork and structural damage. Mortar joints had eroded, decorative features were failing, and moisture had begun to affect sections of the masonry. The overall frontage appeared tired, weathered, and in need of significant repair.
Repairing the Foundations of the Façade
Phase 2 – Careful Removal & Structural Repairs
Once exposed, damaged sections of brickwork and masonry were carefully removed and rebuilt. Loose bricks, failed patch repairs, and weakened sections around the porch columns and bay were dismantled and reconstructed using matching materials.
This stage ensured:

Phase 3 – Strengthening the Property for the Future
With repairs complete, attention turned to renewing the mortar joints across the façade. Old, eroded mortar was removed and replaced with fresh mortar matched to the property’s original appearance.

Guttering and surrounding elements were adjusted or refreshed where necessary, ensuring proper drainage away from the façade.
This stage restored the clarity and definition of the property’s original design.
Phase 5 – Final Cleaning & Finishing Touches
Once structural and masonry works were completed, the façade received final cleaning and finishing touches. Protective coverings were removed, and the property frontage was returned to a clean, cohesive, and visually striking appearance.
